Step-by-Step Guide on How to Link PAN with Aadhaar Online and Offline

The PAN (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar (Unique Identification Number) are two important identification documents in India. PAN is a 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department, whereas Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Linking PAN with Aadhaar Online:

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax e-filing portal - https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/ or https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home.

Step 2: Click on the "Link Aadhaar" option under the Quick Links section on the left side of the page.

Step 3: Enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar in the respective fields. Make sure to enter the captcha code correctly.

Step 4: Click on the "Link Aadhaar" button.

Step 5: A pop-up message will appear on your screen confirming the successful linking of your PAN with Aadhaar.

Linking PAN with Aadhaar Offline:

If you are not comfortable linking PAN with Aadhaar online, you can do it offline as well. Follow the below steps to link PAN with Aadhaar offline:

Step 1: Download the PAN-Aadhaar linking form from the official website of the Income Tax Department - https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/Documents/pan-aadhaar-notification-01042019.pdf.

Step 2: Fill in the details like PAN number, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar in the respective fields.

Step 3: Attach a self-attested copy of your PAN card and Aadhaar card.

Step 4: Send the form and documents to the Income Tax Department's PAN services unit by post or submit it personally at the nearest NSDL TIN facilitation center.

Step 5: After verification of the details, the linking will be done and intimated to you.

Linking PAN with Aadhaar is a simple and mandatory process for filing income tax returns in India. You can link your PAN with Aadhaar online or offline as per your convenience. It is advisable to link PAN with Aadhaar at the earliest to avoid any last-minute rush during the tax filing season.
